Usually, when there’s a celebration, we love to order a cake. Whether it’s a birthday, new job, wedding, or even just an average accomplishment, there’s a cake for every occasion. However, over the years, lots of cake decorators have noticed that there is an uptake in the number of unusual or weird requests. Here are 40+ of some of the strangest cake orders that decorators have gotten.
Apologies Need to Be Made
Cake can make anyone happy, especially someone you may have wronged in the past and may need to apologize to. This cake decorator said that people would often order cakes with sorry written on them so they could apologize for whatever they had done.
Usually, this person really only made cakes that said ‘sorry for your loss’ or ‘sorry to hear you’re leaving,’ but when the customer made this request, the cake-maker was speechless. It makes us wonder what they did in the first place!
Check Your Spelling
Ordering cakes over the phone is such a hassle. You may have to repeat your ideal cake order several times over and still end up with the wrong design. Luckily, the internet has been a big help in allowing people to write down their specific cake orders without having to talk to anyone.
However, one big flaw with this can be autocorrect, which seems to be the problem in this specific example. Instead of the cake saying ‘sweety,’ it actually says ‘sweaty.’ We hope whoever is getting this cake isn’t too offended.
Trip to the Doctors
Going to the doctor’s can be a little bit nerve-wracking. Therefore, this person thought that it might be best to calm down the receipt of this cake’s nerves with this cake. The decorator had never been so confused when the request came in.
This person was going for their first colonoscopy, and if you’ve gotten one before, you’ll know how hungry you are after. This will definitely go down a treat, and may even lighten the mood a little bit after a particularly invasive procedure.
The Tiger King
At the beginning of lockdown in March 2020, Netflix kindly gifted viewers with a six-episode series called Tiger King, which followed the iconic lives of zoo owners Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin in their feud over the exotic cat zoo in Oklahoma.
People enjoyed the show so much that they started to create memes, merch, and even a campaign to get Joe Exotic out of prison. On this occasion, this person liked Tiger King so much that they got a cake with stripes and a photo of Exotic with a tiger.
Accidental Pink Eye
We’ve all probably had to apologize for something we did that hurt another person’s feelings, and some people will even go as far as ordering a cake just to convey how sorry they actually are. On this occasion, we think that this response was probably warranted.
This person rang up a cake decorator and simply asked that they wrote a message apologizing that they had given someone pink eye. We hope that the cake was a good peace offering!
Small Achievements
When you’re a parent, you want to celebrate all of the small things your child has learned to do. That might be their first time crawling, or their first time walking, or even their first day of school. These parents decided to celebrate their child’s first in a weird way.
This cake decorator shared that these parents wanted to celebrate their daughter’s first poop in a normal toilet. This might actually be a great way of training their daughter to use that toilet from now on. Way to go, Hazel!
Shower Buddy
We’re sure that when you’re a cake decorator, no two days are the same. One day, you might be doing normal cakes like birthdays, graduations, or congratulations. The next, you might be piping out something like this decorator had to do.
How else do you apologize to someone than getting them a cake? This decorator also managed to ease the blow of the apology by piping a beautiful red flower onto the cake too, alongside the message, “I’m sorry I threw up on you in the shower.”
Body Confidence
You don’t always need to have a big event or celebration to order a cake. As long as you have the sweet tooth and the money, you can make any day special with a cake order. This person decided to mark a small life event with a creative cake order.
They rang a cake decorator and asked for a cake that celebrated their upcoming breast reduction. The details were so precise that the tag says “breast wishes.” What a great way to celebrate!
Hated Co-Worker
If you ever thought that your co-workers hated you, know that they probably don’t hate you as much as this. This cake decorator said that they once received a phone call from some disgruntled employees looking to order a cake for their co-worker’s birthday.
They told the decorator they wanted the cake to read “Happy Birthday Jagoff! We all hate you,” with a panda on it. They were also told to put a habanero in the batter under the panda as they would pick that piece for themselves. Yikes.
Mother to Be
Some people want to go above and beyond with their cake orders. You might as well go all out! On this occasion, this mother-to-be reached out to this cake decorator so that they could request a cake that would prepare them for motherhood.
They asked for a Pregnant Belly Cake, however, it had to actively lactate. As it was for a friend, this cake decorator decided to take on the challenge, but this is probably the furthest they would ever go.
Leaving Gift
It’s always tough leaving your job, and even tougher leaving your favorite coworkers behind. While they probably know that you’re leaving to go on to bigger and better things, it still probably hurts that you’re leaving.
While cake decorators usually get nice requests, one decorator got a request from a bunch of former co-workers that said, “You’re dead to us.” Not the nicest message to leave with, but they hopefully know that it’s just a joke.
Double Jobbing
Whenever Mother’s Day or Father’s Day rolls around for people, it can be a bit upsetting, mostly if you have a single parent who basically does the job of both parents. This person found the perfect solution to solve that problem.

Going Down
It isn’t odd to ask for a scene or character of your favorite movie or TV show to be on your cake. In fact, lots of people already do this. However, this cake decorator received a request for a totally random movie on a cake.
One customer rang up and asked if they could have the Titanic ship on their cake. Unless they were celebrating their first time watching the film, or were part of a Titanic museum or gallery, we have no idea why someone would order this.
Lockdown Memories
Another vivid memory that most people will remember about lockdown is the mad rush that people went on to stock up on all of their essential items. No matter how many grocery stores you went into, it was impossible to find a pack of toilet paper anywhere.
In order to commemorate this insane time, one person rang up a cake decorator and asked for a cake in the shape of a toilet roll, and for the branding to be put on the side for their birthday cake. It definitely is unique!
Mistaken Identity
This next story sparked a new tradition for this next family and all of their future birthday cakes. Collecting their cake for their daughter’s 12th birthday, the family discovered it was the wrong cake only after they had gotten home.
The cake they had received said ‘Happy Birthday, Bob’ but luckily, they found it hilarious. Now, every year, they order a cake that says ‘Happy Birthday, Bob’ for their daughter’s birthday. New staff members are probably confused when they first hear this story.
Farm to Table
Talk about farm to table! This next cake request was a bit of an odd one that took the decorator by surprise. They were asked if they could make a cake into the shape of a cow’s head and place it on a bed of edible hay.

The decorator did a great job with the cake order, but they never found out why the person ordered it. Was it because they were a farmer? Was it for a farming project? Or just a child who really liked cows?
Stuck Inside
Cake decorators often talk about how weird their cake requests are, especially when it comes to baby showers. In an attempt to stray from the traditional sheet cake, people are deciding to make their cakes memorable by sending some weird requests.
This cake decorator told Reddit of the time she was asked to make a cake for a baby shower. She thought nothing of it, until she read the instructions where it said that they wanted the baby to look like it was stuck in the cake. Wow.
No Sugar
It feels almost cruel making a cake like this for someone who has diabetes. Due to high sugar levels, often those with diabetes can’t eat anything with a lot of sugar in it – including a cake. This next request really was the icing on the cake.
While it wasn’t a decorator who shared this story, it was actually the person who ordered the cake. They wanted their cake to display a strong message so got one saying “By 2030, 50% of Americans will have type II diabetes.” Something to think about.
Long Live the King
Hands up if you have been personally victimized by the traumatic events that happened in The Lion King! Well, this customer clearly wasn’t, so much so, that she wanted to have the event commemorated on her birthday cake.
This three-year-old wanted Mufasa’s death to be the prime subject of her third birthday cake as she said that it was so sad that other people wouldn’t want to eat the cake because they would be so upset. She is really playing checkers.
