According to two sources familiar with the advertisement, Bernie Sanders, who is getting closer to launching a second presidential campaign, has recorded a campaign video in which he declares his intention to seek office in 2020.
It’s the most recent indication that the independent senator, who finished second in the 2016 Democratic primary, is getting close to making a presidential announcement.
Another sign that Sanders is nearing a launch is that the team has been interviewing candidates for key staff roles, according to a POLITICO story this week. If Sanders decides to run again, Chuck Rocha, a political advisor to his 2016 campaign, is anticipated to work with him once more.
The release date or likelihood of the Sanders video is organization uncertain. Sanders might start a 2020 campaign through an exploratory committee and announce his candidacy later, following in the footsteps of Sen. Elizabeth Warren and other contenders.
A question concerning the video was not answered by Sanders’ spokeswoman, Sarah Ford.

This past weekend, Our Revolution made arrangements for the next round of its effort to get Sanders into the race for president. Our Revolution’s political director David Duhalde solicited for funds in a fundraising email to supporters so that he could pay volunteer training, door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and other outreach tactics.
Every day, he continued, “we’re organizing so that our members and our groups can get going as soon as Bernie declares,”
