Bidens vice | Biden declares his candidacy before correcting himself.

Joe Biden briefly tried to run.

In his home state of Delaware on Saturday, the former vice president made a slip of the tongue that caused a throng of Democrats to rise to their feet, capturing the fervent rumors that he plans to run for president in 2020.

“I’m aware that I face criticism. At the First State Democratic Dinner in Dover, Biden gave the keynote address. “I’m told I get lambasted by the new left,” he added. I have the most progressive track record of anyone vying for the office.

Before Biden could complete his sentence, however, a round of applause for the former president had started in the ballroom of the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, with guests getting up from their chairs.

Biden added, lifting his hands to calm the crowd, “I didn’t mean. He smiled, made the sign of the cross on his chest, and then turned to face the podium.

Of anyone who would run, Biden said in his conclusion.

Biden has informed Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) that “he is all but certain he is going to run for president,” Coons told reporters earlier in the evening. Before Biden’s speech, Coons addressed the dinner and expressed his confidence that the nation will be “celebrating” a new commander in chief in 598 days.

I’m praying for that man, folks. And I can’t wait to talk to him in a few minutes,” Coons remarked. And I’m sure that’s Joe Biden, our vice president.
