Rosneft’s Igor Sechin claims that the bloc is losing its ability to compete.
According to Igor Sechin, the president of Russian oil company Rosneft, EU countries are hurting themselves by placing limitations on Russia.
At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Sechin stated that by applying sanctions against Russia, “Europe is committing energy suicide” (SPIEF). “They [EU states] lose their competitiveness and identity to the US.”
The head of Rosneft added that the “green transition” was no longer necessary for market manipulation because of the sanctions because “more blunt and severe techniques are being utilized.”
Sechin claims that what little “green rhetoric” the bloc has left fully conflicts with what countries in the area are doing, which is searching for alternatives to Russian oil at all costs.
