For the first time, members of Generation Z must contend with both a challenging labor market and record-high inflation.
For the first time in their lives, members of Generation Z are seeing record-high inflation rates, and those just entering the job market face significant obstacles. Will they perform better than their more experienced peers?
Alia Hudeib, a Berliner who is 23 years old, recalled the decision she made in high school: “I always thought that by the time I reached this age, I would have acquired a modest used car, so I could go to my grandmother’s house in Bavaria and see her more frequently.” She anticipated working a student job to help pay for the automobile. She told DW, “Clearly, It’s not going to happen any time soon.”
Hudeib claimed that her goal for a car is far from the only compromise she has made in her life as a result of the rising cost of living.
