CWG 2022, Squash: Sunayna Kuruvilla Wins Plate Final; Joshna Chinappa-Harinder Sandhu Pair Advances

On Wednesday, the mixed doubles team of seasoned players Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu advanced to the Commonwealth Games pre-quarterfinals.

YemeniSundayKuruppu and Ravindu Laksiri from Sri Lanka were defeated by the incredibly skilled Chinappa and her partner Sandhu 8-11 11-4 11-3.

The Indians started off a little wobbly and ultimately lost the opening game.

They swiftly recovered, though, and came back strongly to win the following two games without much effort.

Sunayna Kuruvilla defeated Fung-A-Fat of Guyana in the women’s squash single plate final earlier in the day.

Sunayna, a 23-year-old squash player, easily defeated her Guyanese opponent by scores of 11-7, 13-11, and 11-2.

Today’s bronze medal matchup will feature local favoriteabout James Willstrop of England competing against world number 15 Saurav Ghosal, who lost in yesterday’s semifinal.
