Suryakumar Yadav, who has played in 23 T20 matches for India and amassed 672 runs, is now ranked No. 2 in the ICC T20 batter rankings, only behind Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
The legendary Ricky Ponting, who compared Suryakumar Yadav to AB de Villiers and said the Indian has a 360-degree game like the South African brilliance, gave the batsman high accolades. Yadav should bat at position number four in the Indian lineup, according to Ponting.
Surya (Yadav) scores in all directions of the field, much as AB de Villiers did during his prime. The ramps over the keeper’s head, the late cuts, and the lap shots. On the most recent episode of The ICC Review, Ponting said, “He can strike down the ground.
“He smashes exceptionally well over the leg side, notably excellent flicks to deep backward square, and is a terrific player of both fast bowling and spin bowling.” Yadav, 31, is ranked No. 2 in the ICC T20 batter rankings, just behind Pakistan captain Babar Azam, with 672 runs scored in 23 T20 games at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 175.45.
Ponting, who had a close-up view of Yadav during his formative years with the Mumbai Indians, said of him, “He’s a very, very exciting player and I’m sure someone that’s going to find himself in their team, not just their squad.”
