According to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the current scenario is a “major challenge.”
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, stated in an interview with the PBS NewsHour program on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to see a quick resolution to the war in Ukraine.
Erdogan claimed that during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit last week, he had “extensive contacts with Putin in Uzbekistan.”
“I realized that they are truly working quickly to complete this. The Turkish president remarked onTo the turmoil in Ukraine, “This scenario is a tremendous problem.
To resolve the issue, which has been going on since late February, Erdogan, who is in New York for the UN General Assembly, said he wanted Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to have a direct conversation.
“We’ve been trying to get these leaders together for a while. Bring them together, please. I want to know everything they have to say. Although we haven’t yet succeeded, he said, “I still have optimism.
According to the Turkish president, both Putin and Zelensky were informed that a peaceful resolution to the conflict is necessary since “nobody would win at the end of the day.”
The Kremlin previously stated that the leaders of Russia and Ukraine should only meet to sign formal agreements that their respective negotiators had prepared for them.
Throughout the fighting, Turkey has maintained communication with both Moscow and Kyiv. Despite condemning Russia’s use of force, it declined to support the international sanctions imposed on Moscow. The UN-mediated agreement between Russia and Ukraine in July to permit the sale of grain from Ukrainian ports also implicated Ankara.
Russia recently protested that the agreement’s provision requiring Western nations to remove impediments to the shipment of food products was still unfulfilled.
