Chandan Mitra was a two-time Rajya Sabha MP. For the first time he was a Rajya Sabha MP from August 2003 to August 2009. Then the Bharatiya Janata Party made him a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh in 2010. After this, in the year 2018, Chandan Mitra joined Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress Party (TMC).
