Kaja Kallas suggested that certain politicians may be using these trips to gain notoriety.
Kaja Kallas, the prime minister of Estonia, has claimed that she is actively assisting Ukraine in its struggle with Russia and does not require a trip to KyivKyiv to do so.
In an interview with the Postimees website on Monday, Kallas was questioned about why she hadn’t visited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv like the leaders of Germany, France, Italy, and the UK.
I think I’m doing a lot for Ukraine, in my opinion. I don’t need to go to a military hotspot to prove anything to reappear in the news feeds,” she retorted.
The PM stated that she will “accomplish more by talking to big allies and persuading them” to give help to Kyiv rather than making official visits.
“And Ukrainians are highly aware of this. They claim that some people merely visit them to capture photos for social media, Kalas pointed out.
Estonia has been a steadfast ally of Ukraine during the continuing crisis, supplying Kyiv with arms valued at 250 million euros, including howitzers, mines, grenade launchers, mortars, and ammunition.
In response to Moscow’s military operation on Monday, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland closed their borders to Russian visitors. A full visa restriction for Russians entering the EU has also been demanded by Tallinn, but Brussels decided against enacting the policy.
