Six Indian boxers, led by 2019 World Championship bronze medalist Jamuna Boro, advanced to the semi-finals of the Florida Cup on Friday in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, demonstrating the boxers’ continuous dominance in the sport.

Throughout her quarterfinal match against Aishagul Yeleubayeva of Kazakhstan, Jamuna Boro (54 kg) appeared to be completely in control. She demonstrated good abilities and kept landing solid blows en route to a convincing 5-0 victory.

Jyoti Gulia (52 kg), a native of Rohtak, competed against Zhansaya Rakhymberdi of Kazakhstan. Jyoti used the opening round to assess the tactics of her rival before regaining the upper hand in the following two rounds. She moved quickly around the ring, displaying her quickness and precise blows, earning a 4-1 split decision in her favor.

Sonia Lather (57 kg), who won silver at the 2016 World Championships, easily defeated local boxer Zhuldyz Shayakhmetova by a score of 5-0.

The Kazakhstani competitor Altynbek Nursultan was easily defeated by Ananta Chopade (54 kg) by a score of 5-0, and Sachin (57 kg) advanced to the Last-4 round after his Chinese opponent Lyu Ping was injured in the second round.

Sakshi (54 kg) advanced to the semifinals with a convincing 5-0 victory over Muzdiman Balausa of Kazakhstan.

However, Arshi (52 kg) and Aarti (57 kg) both suffered 5-0 defeats to their respective Kazakh opponents.

Aditya (67kg), competing in the men’s division, battled valiantly against Mongolia’s Baatarsukh Chinzorig, the current Asian Champion, but ultimately fell short. Pawan (75 kg) also lost his final match to Kazakhstan’s Rays Nurkanat.

Gitika (48 kg), Lalita (70 kg), and Babita (81 kg), three Indian female boxers, advanced to the semi-finals late on Thursday night.

S Kalaivani (48 kg), Neema (63 kg), Alfiya (81+ kg), and Jugnoo (92 kg) are the four Indian boxers who will begin the semi-final since 13 Indian boxers are guaranteed medals.

The inaugural Florida Cup features top boxers from powerful nations including India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, the host nation, Cuba, China, and Mongolia. On July 4, there will be finals.

The silver and bronze medal winners will receive USD 400 and USD 200, respectively, while the winning boxer will receive USD 700.
